Double Dutching through life as an
Ellis

"They say life is a rollercoaster, but mine has always felt more like a rollercoaster inside a zoo. I’m Jessica—a California native who now calls Minnesota home, a mother to four, and a protector of five fur babies.
From a young age, I struggled to find my own voice. For years, I believed I was exactly who everyone else told me I was. But five years ago, the ride slowed down enough for me to start questioning everything. I began therapy a year later and was eventually diagnosed with ADHD and Unspecified Personality Disorder (with BPD and DPD traits). Currently, I am still in 1:1 therapy but also DBT therapy once a week.
It hasn’t been easy. I’ve had to face the hard truths—that coming from a dysfunctional family meant I also played a part in those dynamics. I’m learning to identify the toxic patterns I picked up and, more importantly, how to unlearn them. This space is where I face my shadows and step into my truth. I’m using writing, art, and photography to 'Double Dutch' through the unexpected twists of healing—finding rhythm in the chaos and beauty in the unlearning.
If you’ve ever felt like you didn't belong or are currently facing your own shadows, know that you are not alone. Let’s navigate the ride together."
